30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 9

Day 9: Blog/Website

Huh. I don’t think I have any big attachments to any particular website. I guess I would have to be thankful for the now defunct MSN Groups. I met a lot of internet friends through those groups that I still keep in contact with and have met a few of them in person.

I suppose I could put Pinterest on here too. It has saved many dinner dilemmas.

Day 8: Restaurant

Ugh. y’all are going to judge me so hard for this one. I am thankful for McDonald’s. That one McDonald’s nearish my house in particular. The one that redid their play area about 2 years ago. That play area has saved my sanity the past few winters. I’m not keen on their food, but I love those indoor play places. I do, however, really like their regular coffee and iced tea. It’s a little sad that a fast food restaurant has the best iced tea in town.

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 7

Oops got a little behind on this.

Day 7: Scent

Scent? I suppose baby head. Sounds weird, I know. Looks weird seeing it written down. But seriously, I love to sniff my babies’ heads. It doesn’t smell so good once they get older and active, but there is something about a baby’s smell that is really kind of intoxicating.

Day 6: Pair of Shoes

Huh. I do love shoes. Which pair am I most thankful for? I guess my faux-fur lined Crocs. Yes. I wrote down Crocs. Don’t judge me. Or at least don’t judge me too quickly.

The Crocs were a gift from my mother-in-law when I was pregnant last year. I had gotten to the point where putting on socks was impossible, let alone trying to tie or fasten shoes. So, she found a pair of Crocs that are lined with warm furry material. They are easy to slip on and kept my tootsies nice and toasty.

Now you can judge me. Because I am wearing them again this winter. Without shame.

Day 5: Place

I am thankful for St. Augustine, FL. I love that place. It is the perfect mix of crazy and elegant. And I have the best memories that stem from visiting St. Aug. I love the food. I love the shopping. I love the historic sites. I was basically a resident, but I still loved to take the trolley tours.

30 Days Of Thankfulness: Day 4

Day 4: Favorite Snack

Well this one seems a little goofy. A favorite snack? I guess I would have to be thankful someone figured out how to make popcorn. When I think of comfort, I think of sitting down to a good (or sometimes bad) movie or show with a bowl of popcorn and usually Tajin seasoning. This would be my favorite combo that I don’t get to do very often. So, maybe it isn’t a silly thing to be thankful for.

Day 3: Cozy Place

A cozy place? I would have to say my home. I love my home! Even when I have to fix something on it. I love that I can have tea in front of my fireplace in the winter and I have a yard to work in during the summer. It is the place where I gave birth to my 3rd child and the place where my children have grown up.

It is the place I look forward to going to after trips and vacations.

30 Days Of Thankfulness: Day 2: Animal

Day 2: Animal

Well, this one is a little sad. I am most thankful for my cat, Nightshade. She has been gone since April of 2007. She was my first roommate and my companion. She would walk on a leash for me and I was able to take her to the park on occasion. She was a great traveler and seemed to have an adventurer’s soul.

I actually bought her from a pet store. I really didn’t have the money for her, but I needed to have her in my life. We connected the moment we looked at each other. I have never had that kind of connection with another pet.

I went through some rough financial times and I always made sure that she had food in her bowl even when I had to skimp on my own meals.

She was crazy and earned the nickname Bitch Cat from most of my friends. She definitely knew what she wanted and how to get it.

I miss her a lot.

30 Days of Thankfulness: Day 1

Fox & Broom|30 Days of Thankfulness

So, I have never really been the type of person to do the “30 Day Challenges,” but this one struck a chord with me this year. So I decided to give it a shot. I really do have a lot to be thankful for, even with some of the other crap that has gone on this year. Or maybe because of the crap that has gone on this year.

Day 1: Person

The person I am most thankful for (and there are a lot of people to choose from) is my husband. He has been my rock. He makes me see the truth, even when I want to ignore it. Like poking my leg at the hospital to prove to the doctor and nurses that I really am in a great deal of pain. He also makes me laugh and doesn’t judge me for my morbid sense of humor. In fact, he usually joins in on the morbid part.

He is super smart and a great teacher/tutor to our boys. He thinks up great games for them and sometimes builds amazing things out of boxes or couch cushions. He doesn’t always get my weirdness, but he loves me anyway.
