Independence

I am starting to prepare for Sol’s first birthday party. Pretty fun stuff! His birthday is on Easter, so we are having it the day before. I know that most people won’t be able to come on account of that, but we really just want his first party to be small.

I took him swimming today. We had a lot of fun. He hung on to me and I swam a bunch of laps. He didn’t want to get out of the pool hehe.
Sol won’t fall asleep while I rock him anymore. We have had to start just putting him in his crib and let him cry it out a bit….  I’m really glad that we had our months of snuggle time. It just breaks my heart to hear him cry himself to sleep. Although he usually only cries for about 5 minutes.

Just writin’

Just feel a need to write. Problem is that I don’t really have any particular subject. Sol is standing on his own now. Well for a few seconds anyway. We have been "walking" him around the house and the circular drive that is our small neighborhood. He likes to hang on the backs of our pants/shorts and will walk right behind us. I need to get a pic of it… He always gets this huge goofy grin when we do this hehe.

Only one more month until he is 1. I can’t believe how fast this year has been going.

Can’t think of a title

Sol has learned how to climb onto the couch. He usually does it when I am also on it and he wants to sit in my lap. However, Trask caught him doing it in an attempt to get to the remote.
Trask had gotten his bigger car seat down from the attic. And I threw it out. I know this sounds like a waste and I was reluctant to do it, but the dead cockroach falling out of it clinched it for me. It had been used and we did not have a booklet for it or anything. Just wanted to share.

Checker’s

Sol LOVES the Checker’s commercial. He always has. He will seriously STOP whatever he is doing to watch it. Lately he has been dancing to it too. I try not to watch too much TV during the day. Nothing is really on anyway, but we do have it on in the evening. Kind of winds down our day I guess.
Anyway, back to what I had been saying. Today, Sol started dancing to the Checker’s commercial. Then to just about anything that made music. Except the Victoria’s Secret commercial. That one he stopped dancing to and just watched it. He is his father’s son.

TROUBLE

I took Sol up to Jacksonville to see his grandparents this past weekend. We stayed at my in-laws. We really had a wonderful time. I took him for a quick swim and we went shopping in St. Augustine before heading home.
He was so funny at Grandma and Grandpa Drew’s house. They have a fireplace that he has been really fascinated with. Sometimes he got it into his head to go and check it out. Hehehe. He would go towards it a few "steps", stop, shake his head "No", look at me, and repeat. It was hilarious. It took ALL of my self-control to keep from laughing at him. I know he does this to test his limits. He knows what he is not supposed to do, but will try to do it anyway while he is shaking his head "No". hahahahahahahah.

Mommy’s Little Monster

Yeah…. Sol doesn’t think he can stand yet – although he is getting better at it. Today he stood and even tried to walk a step. Today he has also climbed on top of a box so he could see what was on a table. Lol. Won’t stand, but is more than happy to climb up on stuff. Hehe. I made sure to get pics of it and will post them when I get a chance to download them.
I have to say it scared the crap out of me when I saw him lol. I had heard him playing with the box (we keep it next to the table so he can’t reach the lamp cord under the table), I had thought he was just trying to squeeze around it like usual. Then he made a weird sound and I looked up. Eeeeek. lol. He was happy as a clam. Little turd…. lol.

new goings-ons ‘n such

Well, I have recently become addicted to the world of E-bay and am attempting to sell some of our old VHS videos. This made sense to me since our VCR is no longer cooperating with us. We can watch movies, but can not rewind them. So we can pretty much just watch them once. I am also thinking about trying to sell the jewelery that I make. If that works out, I may move up to selling clothing/costumes. We’ll see. Here are my listings: Ravyn_Eclipse. I hope that link works.

Sol is a tornado, no difference there. He stood on his own in church yesterday. It was pretty neat. He’s done it before, but not for such a long time. He had bent down to pick up my purse strap and then just stood up. Just like that. We can’t get him to repeat it at home though. We think that he has to think that something is supporting him (maybe he thought the purse strap was supporting him). I think he will be running around in no time.

Peek A Boo

Sol really had a lot of fun today.
He ate Hari Krishna food with Daddy and played in the grass on the UF campus. Dad said that his way of playing in the grass is to grab clumps in both hands and throw them down. Hehe.
Tonight, he entertained us with peek-a-boo. Very cute. It was the first time I had seen him play it at home. He has played it in his car seat with me.

On another note:
I managed to track down two coworkers from BEAKS. I had lost contact with them shortly after I moved to Gainesville. Chris found out she was pregnant about a week after I found out lol. It was really great to catch up and interesting to compare birth stories. I am so thankful that mine is relatively boring. I keep hearing about all the things that could go wrong. It was frightening enough when Sol reacted badly to the epidural, but that was easily fixed and was the only scary part. Her little guy, Daniel, had his cord wrapped around his neck about 3 times. He was only 5 lbs. Her doctors kept telling her she was having a 9 lb girl. What a shock. However, he has recovered with a vengeance lol.

YAY!!

Solomon clapped on his own today! I was at work of course…. However, he did again after I got home.  He also attempted to wave to some girls on the bus. Hehe. My little flirt.
That’s it. I just wanted to let everyone know.

A blog

Sol is 9 months old today. We took pictures of course  He refused to do anything cute for me, so I mostly got pictures of him crawling away from me.
I ran out of time last Friday (Trask needed to use the computer), so I did not get to write about last Thursday. Sol had to go in to work with me. He was only there from 10:30 til 3, but I was sooooo exhausted. He was really really good for me until about 2. He was so tired and he just refused to go to sleep for me. He did take a 3 hour nap as soon as dad picked him up. I think we have it worked out so that I will not have to do that again. I hope. I did enjoy having him near me, but it was really rough on the 2 of us. I took him to a park on Friday as a treat for being as good as he was.
I can’t believe that he will be 1 in only 3 more months.
I also can’t believe that my little blog has had 200 hits in the past week. Wow. Looks like most of them were directly to the photos, but I am still pretty impressed.
